Athletic Team Talks

I travel to the field and speak to different teams for 30 minutes at either the beginning or end of practice.  For high schools or universities that don’t have a sport psychology consultant, I make sure to address issues that are more than likely not being emphasized by their coaches, who are focusing more on fundamentals and other aspects of the game.  The mental side is what separates the best from the rest.  Some of the talks I do include:

  • Mental Toughness– How to remain mentally tough and resilient during the heat of competition.
  • Positive Self-Talk + Performance Statements– The importance of talking to yourself positively to increase confidence.
  • Goals/Expectations– Creating SMART goals and manageable expecations that you own.
  • Leadership– How to demonstrate leadership qualities in different ways to be the most effective teammate.
